Jane and Maya are opposites. Jane is chatty and outgoing, Maya is quiet and reserved. They become instant friends. And when they learn about endangered animals in school, they decide to help save monarch butterflies. So they plant milkweed and wait, water, and watch all summer. And when it is time to say goodbye to their monarch, Maya finally tells Jane about her own long journey to find a new home in Canada.
